Retirement: Your UBS Cash account

Bob T. called me yesterday and passed along a good reminder for those with UBS accounts. On my last vesting date, I was also surprised to find a cash balance in my UBS account, which I immediately had them send to me. Here's Bob's story:

"I sold the rest of my options and Corning stock earlier this year. I think that triggered a letter I got today telling me that there will be $100 per year charge on the account now that I don't have anything tied to Corning in it.

When I went to close the account, it turns out I had cash in the account that I never really noticed or knew was mine. I believe that case is dividends that were paid over however many years of getting dividends.

It may be worth a note to the group.

  1. Working people can call and get them to send that money out any time. It's yours and taxes were dealt with in the year of each dividend.
  2. Retirees need to ask them to close the account once they have dealt with all their stock."
