Retirement: Your UBS Cash account
Bob T. called me yesterday and passed along a good reminder for those with UBS accounts. On my last vesting date, I was also surprised to find a cash balance in my UBS account, which I immediately had them send to me. Here's Bob's story:
"I sold the rest of my options and Corning stock earlier this year. I think that triggered a letter I got today telling me that there will be $100 per year charge on the account now that I don't have anything tied to Corning in it.
When I went to close the account, it turns out I had cash in the account that I never really noticed or knew was mine. I believe that case is dividends that were paid over however many years of getting dividends.
It may be worth a note to the group.
- Working people can call and get them to send that money out any time. It's yours and taxes were dealt with in the year of each dividend.
- Retirees need to ask them to close the account once they have dealt with all their stock."
