Meredith and I are going to see an estate planning attorney next week. It's probably the most difficult thing I can think of doing, and paying for the privilege. Every aspect of your life, your plans for the future, everything laid out on the table. This isn't retirement planning - that's different.

Right now our thought is that we'll need a trust for Dylan, to subsidize his living situation through his life. That trust will need a trustee, someone who will outlive Dylan. I've been thinking that I'll be paying for a commercial trustee (bank) with a family member "tree" that can help make decisions when Dylan needs that sort of help. This is what I hope to get out of this estate planning meeting, or at least get the ball rolling.
