Retirement: How to use a Roth IRA as an emergency fund

I've told people that I established a Roth IRA too late. I believe people should establish a Roth IRA at least 5 years before retirement. Doesn't mean they have to fully fund it, but it starts the 5-year-rule clock. Having a Roth IRA gives you Roth conversion options later.

I'm sure there are arguments for and against using a Roth IRA as an emergency fund, but I thought this was an interesting article.
