Retirement: Goals that tell us we can finally retire

With hindsight, once of the strangest things about my retirement journey was waiting so long before asking myself, "how much to do I need to retire?" I suspect a lot of people don't start asking that question until late in their working careers. If you wait too long to start asking this question, you might not have enough time to fix things. Sure, you can start saving more for retirement, but you've lost the gift of time for that money to grow.

Anyone who's started asking themselves this question knows the answer isn't simple. Estimating future spending for 30+ years of retirement is difficult. You might be able to settle on some sort of monthly number, and you could assume that number will go up with inflation. But what about those "big things" you think you want to do in retirement? Vacation trips? New house or house renovations? Some retirement modeling applications can help you, but none of them can read your mind.

Unfortunately neither of these videos is going to answer the question for you. They do give you some things to think about while you're saving for retirement.
